A grand opening is set for Aldi’s new 25,000-square-foot store, according to a press release from The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation. Located on the corner of South Dakota Avenue NE and Kennedy Street NE, it will be the second location in D.C. and part of The Cafritz Foundation’s expansive two-million-square-foot mixed-use development in the Fort Totten neighborhood.
A transit-oriented mixed-use development located near Metro, Art Place at Fort Totten is a phased development located in Ward 5 along South Dakota Avenue. The Cafritz Foundation worked with Perkins Eastman to develop the original master plan. At full build out, Art Place will include nearly two million square feet of multifamily, retail, cultural, art, public and entertainment spaces.
